The Crocodile Prize is a literary contest initiated by PNG Attitude and Post Courier and launched in 2010. The contest attracted a good number of entries in Poetry, Essay, Short Stories and others. Prizes for the contest were awarded last week.
On Thursday (15th September), the eve of Papua New Guinea’s Independence Celebrations, the inaugural Crocodile Prize Writers’ Workshop & Award Ceremony was hosted by the Australian High Commission. The winners are, according to category, are:
- Short Story – Jeffery Febi;
- Poetry – Jimmy Drekore;
- Essay – Martyn Namorong, and;
- Dame Carol Kidu Award – Lapieh Landu.
A selection of entries has been compiled into a book called The Crocodile Prize Anthology 2011 and is available for sale for $15. The book would make an ideal gift this Christmas.
