Ageless PNG boxer, Jack Willie
Willie has announced that this would his final time to represent PNG in the Pacific Games.

The ageless pugilist Jack Willie has proven again why he is the South Pacific’s light flyweight champion taking out the gold for third consecutive time. The 32 year old Madang man outboxed Jean Leonce Ruatu Nauku of Vanuatu in the first round of their finals bout.

The boxer nicknamed “Lapun” proved critics wrong by winning for the third time and against a much younger and quicker opponent. He also announced that this would be his last time representing Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the Pacific Games.

Also debutant Junior Raka Kauka also defeated his Tahitian opponent Hoani Marescot to take gold and Andrew Opugu settled for silver after going down to Tahitian Tuihaa Jayson on points.

Tony Toliman, Noel Eko and Tom Boga all settled for bronze in their respective division.
